Joining our club Thursday night were Sue Herndon and Brian Pepin.
Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of Poway, CA!
Since 1973 the Kiwanis Club of Poway has been helping local children and having a good time doing it! We're known as the club that gets things done! Our 70+ members meet each Thursday in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Frankly, we're a bit non-traditional—and proud of it!
Our service projects range from cooking meals for young cancer patients and burn victims to providing holiday gifts for needy kids and scholarships to high school seniors. We work closely with Rady Children's Hospital, The Summit for Children Worldwide and the San Pasqual Academy, the country's only residential high school for foster teens. We are also the proud sponsors of the Miss Poway Scholarship Pageant and the Jack-O-Smash Fun Runs and Family Festival.
We also help children and teens learn the value of community service through sponsorships of the K-Kids Club at Painted Rock Elementary School, the Builders Club at Twin Peaks Middle School and the Key Club at Poway High School. We recently chartered the Abraxas Aktion Club for developmentally disabled adults and reactivated the Circle K Club at Cal State San Marcos.
We also sponsor the Keg & Cork event each August to raise money for our signature service project, "Holiday with Heroes".
